Rohit Sharma produced a stroke-filled 75 in the third ODI between India and South Africa at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, bringing up multiple major milestones along the way. Among them, he overtook Sachin Tendulkar in a significant national record.
The former India captain surpassed the legendary Sachin Tendulkar to become India’s highest run-scoring opener against South Africa in international cricket. Rohit entered the match needing 45 runs to break the record, and he achieved the feat in the 17th over of the chase. His fluent half-century was also his second of the series, following the 57 he scored in the opener in Ranchi, and marked his 94th fifty-plus score in ODIs — the joint third-highest for an Indian batter.
