Ding Stuns Gukesh To Win Game 1 Of 2024 World Championship

 World Champion Ding Liren is up early in the 2024 FIDE World Championship in Singapore after winning his first classical match in 304 days. As Ding played the French Defense and burned nearly 27 minutes on move seven, pre-event favorite GM Gukesh Dommaraju appeared to be in control. Gukesh then blitzed out an aggressive novelty. But as soon as the young Indian faltered, Ding took the initiative and won the match with a stunning follow-up. Let's play!
